Funcare is owned and operated by Ian & Josy Thompson who are local parents who set up the company in order to provide high quality care for the children of Harrogate.

HIGH QUALITY, NO HASSLE CHILD CARE. We are both graduates who have worked for many years in industry before having our own 4 children. Trying to hold down very challenging jobs as well as doing the very best for our children made us realise that there was a tremendous need in Harrogate for high quality, no hassle child care.


CARING AND FUN FOR YOUR CHILDREN Our company was named FunCare as we both feel strongly that whilst of course our children need to be healthy and safe when away from home, our priorities are that they should be cared for by happy and warm people, and that they should have fun in their day to day lives, whilst learning and developing into happy and confident people in their own right.


Our company currently runs 2 Daycare Nurseries - Woodlands Day Nursery and PlayAway Day Nursery, and a before and after school club at Oatlands Infant School. As well as this, together with Jenny Rowlands we also run 2 further before and after school clubs at St Peters CE School and Rossett Acre School.


Please note that collections from any of the three schools are possible for part-time reception children, and Woodlands also works closely with Wedderburn Infant School Nursery, for children who need wrap-around care whilst attending the school nursery.
